Quick answer

Del City is a short drive from our south Oklahoma City service office. It began in 1946 when George Epperly bought 160 acres at SE 29th and Sunnylane, and by 1948 there were 582 homes, three quarters of them his. We do panel upgrades, partial rewiring, outlet and grounding work and storm repairs in these postwar homes every week.

Homes in Del City

What the housing looks like in Del City

George Epperly planned fifty houses on a 160-acre wheat field in 1946. By the time Del City incorporated on October 9, 1948, there were 582 homes, 75 percent of them his, built fast for families who wanted homes of their own. Those houses were wired for a few lights, a radio and a refrigerator.

A large area of Del City was also hit by the May 3, 1999 tornado outbreak, so some blocks were rebuilt while others kept their original houses and wiring.

Utility and permits

Utility, permits and inspections in Del City

In the original Del City homes we most often find small panels without room for new circuits, ungrounded two-prong outlets, and old additions spliced into the original wiring. Bringing them up to date usually means a panel upgrade and a partial rewire of the kitchen, baths and laundry first. Permits come from the City of Del City.
